Mental Health Senior Charge Nurse

Who We Are
As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services
Our Regional Centres are located at Hillington, Cardonald, Clydebank, South Queensferry, Dundee and Aberdeen. This post will be based in our Cardonald Regional Centre.
The Role
Clinical Lead will provide brief clinical risk and mental health assessment, formulation, short-term contingency planning for people presenting in mental health crisis. Using a range of brief solution-focused interventions, Clinical Leads will empower patients, carers and their families in decision making and divert to a range of health and social care resources for support.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing evidence based clinical interventions, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
- Promoting a recovery model that empowers patients, carers and relatives to be at the forefront of decision making and ownership of their packages of care and treatment.
- Build and maintain relationships with colleagues to ensure effective communication across NHS 24 sites and externally with Partner Agencies (e.g. Out of Hours (OOH) Services, Ambulance Services, and Accident & Emergency (A&E) Units, GPs, Integration Joint Boards, Health & Social Care Partners)
- Providing clinical support and professional leadership to the mental health multi-disciplinary team, to ensure the ongoing development of the service and the individual practitioner
- Act as a change agent, developing clinically effective practice through the effective utilisation and integration of evidence; setting, implementing and monitoring evidence-based policies, procedures and protocols.
- Influencing clinical decisions and monitor the quality of patient care using expert clinical knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience.
Successful Applicant will:
- Possess a Mental Health Nurse qualification and valid NMC Registration
- Demonstrate significant post registration experience across a wide area of mental health service provision, particularly relevant would be experience of working within liaison psychiatry, crisis services or intensive home treatment teams.
- Demonstrate experience of teaching, training and/or supervision of clinical staff.
Benefits
NHS 24 offers a complete benefits package, with a permanent contract on Band 7 £46,244 - £53,789 Per Annum (pro rata if applicable). Placement on salary scale is dependent on confirmation of previous relevant NHS service.
