The shift pattern for this position is Mon-Fri 08.30-16.30.

This is a fixed term position of 1 year.

A unique opportunity has arisen for the highly skilled post of Specialist Occupational Therapist, Band 6, for the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit, QEUH.  The unit provides intensive in-patient rehabilitation with life-long follow-up to the spinal cord injured population of Scotland and advises on any Occupational Therapy related issues for spinal injured patients in primary and tertiary services.

The post-holder will be an integral part of the MDT providing high quality, specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, person-centred treatments and interventions, and complex discharge planning enabling patients to achieve their maximum independence.  

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical supervision of rotational Band 5 staff and provide ongoing day to day clinical support to OTSWs. The individual will also act a student supervisor to undergraduate and postgraduate students on professional placements.  Additionally, they will lead in the education of medical, nursing and other MDT members within the spinal unit and NHSGGC in the promotion of OT within spinal injuries.  An interest and/or experience in research and development is preferred as is experience in clinical governance and service development.

Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience, preferably with 2 years of clinical experience in spinal cord injury or neuro rehabilitation. You should have a clean driving license and be HCPC registered.  This post is a fixed term contract for one year and will be full time – 37.5 hours.
