To ensure that the security of the Hospital is maintained by ensuring those personnel entering and leaving are authorised to do so.  To also ensure that all staff, visitors, contractors and vehicles entering and leaving are checked and where necessary physically searched as per hospital policy.  Providing direct supervision and / or escorting of contractors, taking responsibility for the security and safety of personnel, tools and equipment as per hospital policy.  Working within a control room environment can be a requirement of the post holder. The role requires staff to work without direct supervision on a daily basis. Applicants will work a shift pattern which includes weekend working, public holidays, early shifts (6.30am-2.30pm) and backshifts (2pm-10pm). Successful applicants must complete SVQ level 3 in custodial care within the first 18 months of employment.

Experience

Applicants must be mature in outlook, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to challenge others in an assertive and appropriate manner.  Having the ability to work on their own initiative and prioritise their workload. Full clean driving licence. Having good knowledge of IT systems i.e. word, excel. while not essential are desirable. The role is physically demanding and requires post holders to carry out perimeter checks which is approximately 1.2 miles over rough terrain as part of the daily physical checks.
