Medical Receptionist – Inverkeithing Medical Group
Location: Inverkeithing
Salary/Banding: £22,819 pro rata
Hours: 30 (Mon-Fri 08:30 to 15:30 (one hour lunch)
As the first point of contact for patients this role requires someone who is confident dealing with the public and possesses excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and competent IT skills. You must also be highly motivated, enthusiastic and able to prioritise your workload. You will represent the Practice to the highest standard.
Examples of sphere of responsibility:
Books patients when attending for appointments
Enters patients details onto IT systems
Directs people where to go within the department centre
Answers telephones, sometimes directing calls to other staff through the telephone system
Books appointments by telephone, face to face or asynchronously
Answers queries from patients and other staff members
Files/types documents
Follows up on patient/clinician requests
Photocopies/scans documents
Inputs data
Maintains confidentiality
Is aware of practice protocols and policies
It is essential you are a self motivated and enthusiastic team worker with a willingness to learn. You will be supported in your role by our reception supervisor and practice manager to ensure you receive all the training to develop in this role.

Uses enhanced communication skills and care navigation to enable them to assist patients in accessing the right care at the right time

Displays emotional intelligence when dealing with members of the public
Listens empathetically to fully understand others’ needs
Able to use different computer systems to communicate with a wide range of service users
