On the back of a successful Clinical Development Fellow (CDF) programme, we have a variety of CDF placements with developmental opportunities in quality improvement work, management and leadership, undergraduate teaching and the Scottish Centre for Simulation and Clinical Human Factors. The trainees from the current cohort of CDFs have led with roles such as chief resident and demonstrated a phenomenal amount of quality improvement work, establishment of undergraduate teaching programme with recurrent positive feedback and some have laid solid foundations for future NHS leadership. They have or will be displaying and presenting their Quality Improvement work at national conferences and that will be the expectation for you. There is now an established QI forum that you will be part of where you will not only learn the techniques of QI work but also get an opportunity to present.

The CDF programme was created to supplement the existing trainees to support safe clinical care as well as facilitating training opportunities for all.  Trainees in the CDF programme have been able to maintain skills in unselected medical receiving while providing excellent continuity for their base teams. Though most clinical time is spent during day time, banding supplement is awarded for evenings, nights and weekends.
