The successful candidate will be managing the Telecoms Business as Usual Operations team, overseeing the provision and support of comprehensive telecoms services as part of the Digital & IT department within NHS Lothian. They will provide an expert advice and technical service in respect of Telecommunications Systems used across the NHS Lothian estate, mainly comprised of desk phones, smartphones, mobiles and emergency pagers. The successful candidate will be managing staff within the Lothian Health Area and ensure that adequate levels of support are provided to ensure a smoothly run service.

Day to day management of the Operations team includes, but is not limited to:

  • Line managing a team of 7 people in the Mobile Administration and Telecoms Technical Teams.
  • Allocating tasks to individual members of the team and ensuring that the quality of work produced meets the required standards.
  • Management and organisation of incoming jobs via Service Now and ensuring the helpdesk has adequate cover for callers.
  • Responsibility for the development and delivery of training to make sure the team can deliver the highest levels of support.
  • Providing advice to senior service managers to help them find the most appropriate solution to meet the needs of their services.
  • Investigation and report generation for Telecoms related Datix or complaints.
  • Participation in telecoms/digital related projects
  • Participation in a 1 in 6 on call rotation for out of hours Telecoms Major Systems support.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have excellent, leadership and communication skills, be technically minded and a keen problem solver. Although not essential it is desirable for applicants to have experience in the systems supported by the Telecoms department, such as Microsoft Intune, BT One Cloud Cisco, BT CCNG, and experience in working with external providers Telecoms suppliers such as BT and EE.
