An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Mental Health Assessment Unit (MHAU). We are looking for a highly motivated nurse to join our team.
You will be part of current service developments aiming to enhance the crisis service. Some of the developments are on-site assessments (within persons locality/home) as well as joint working with Mental Health Paramedic Response Unit (MHPRU) who sit within MHAU again for joint response/onsite assessments
The broad objective of MHAU is to support patients to effectively self-manage their lives and health, thereby reducing distress and improving functioning. MHAU aims to achieve this objective by providing a single point of access to an integrated, community asset-based approach to care, facilitating an efficient journey through mental health services.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of knowledge with regards assessment of major mental illness/ distress. You will be required to work autonomously and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team and be able to demonstrate the ability to make sound clinical decisions.
The post holder will be required to assess mental state and relevant risks including suicide, self-harm, and violence within the framework of wider holistic assessments. Assessments may on occasion be nurse led, others conducted jointly with medical colleagues. These assessments include police S297 assessments. The team also provide a 24/7 triage service to Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service & NHS24.
You will be expected to work a 24-hour shift pattern.
We currently have 2 posts available, 1 x 30 hours and 1 x 37.5 hours. Part-time work will be considered.
