An exciting opportunity has become available for the post of a Learning Disability Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

This post is available to both current advanced nurse practitioners or a Band 5 and above registered learning disability nurse who has the desire to complete the required trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner modules.  The post will be aligned to the Dundee Community Learning Disability Nursing Team within Dundee Health & Social Care Partnership .Applicants will require experience working at an advanced level with the ability to make professional autonomous clinical decisions through history taking, physical examination and problem solving.  The role will involve working autonomously supported by the Team Leader and working collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team within community settings.

You will pro-actively manage and review adults and in situations of deterioration and mental health emergencies . You will be expected to act as a clinical leader, working in close collaboration with the clinicians within the Community Learning Disability Team.

You will be expected to act autonomously in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, including prescribing for adults who have been assessed and who are likely to have complex care needs.  You will work closely with people and their families/carers to identify clinical issues quickly and aim to support people to live in the community setting.

You may  also interface with the Community Mental Health teams including the Crisis Resolution Team and you may be required to assess patients with a Learning Disability who are admitted to an acute setting or present at the Emergency Department.

You will play a key role in the leadership and development of advanced nursing practice within the Community Learning Disability Team , participating  in the delivery of specialist education and training programmes and work collaboratively with health and social care colleagues across the partnership to deliver high quality evidence based care.

You will also play a key role in enhancing patient experience, assuring clinical governance and supporting the Senior Leadership Team in the improvement and continued development of the service.

You must be a 1st Level UK Registered Nurse Learning Disability and registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register. Trainees must be willing to study towards operating at Masters Level.

You must have the personal drive, clinical knowledge and commitment to undertake this challenging and rewarding role.  The ability to travel across Dundee is essential.  Please see Job description for other requirements of this post.
