NHS Scotland Assure is the new centre of expertise focusing on quality in the built environment. Health Facilities Scotland is part of NHS Scotland Assure and provides operational guidance to NHS Scotland healthcare bodies on all facilities topics. We deliver and co-ordinate effective advice and support in relation to national facilities, equipping and technical matters which support and improve health and well-being services. As part of the continued development of NHS Scotland Assure, a new Senior Architect role is required to help support the Architecture and Design team within Health Facilities Scotland. This is a highly professional, senior, and autonomous team comprising Architects, National Fire Safety Advisors and a Principal Structural Engineer.
The Post & The Candidate:
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Architect who will be responsible for providing expert professional advice to NHS Scotland and represent NHS Scotland in dealings with other organisations through leading and contributing to the key work streams of the team. The team is responsible for the NHS Scotland Design Assessment Process (NDAP), it’s implementation and development, as well as providing subject matter expert advice for Key Stage Assurance Reviews (KSAR). The team is also responsible for all relevant Health Facilities Scotland guidance documentation, including its development and revision as well as any associated research streams.
The post holder will be a qualified professional and will have extensive architectural experience either in the private or public sector, as well as a good understanding of the key issues and priorities in Healthcare design, construction and maintenance. The post holder should be confident in offering design and quality advice across the design and construction of the built environment.
A good understanding and experience of healthcare design and technical issues is a key requirement for the role. Potential candidates should have an understanding of the role and work of HFS and Property, Sustainability and Capital Planning, as well as an awareness of the issues involved in providing assurance and compliance on healthcare projects, a key priority for NHS Scotland Assure.
The post holder will be expected to work with other professionals and subject matter experts within Property, Sustainability and Capital Planning and Engineering, Environment and Decontamination. The post holder will also work with colleagues from other areas of NHS Scotland Assure / HFS including Infection Control, FM, and Business Support.
Candidates must have current ARB registration at the time of applying.
Location and Working Pattern:
Various Locations across the Central Belt
The work pattern is e.g Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
