Glasgow City HSCP (Northeast Locality) - Primary Care


This exciting role will involve working with GPs and the primary care multidisciplinary teams to improve medicines management and deliver excellent patient care.  This role will involve delivery of the pharmacotherapy service as part of the GP contract and will provide an important function in supporting patients with their medicines. This patient facing role will involve taking on a prescribing role and developing your own clinical caseload in line with Achieving Excellence strategy objectives.  Applicants should be qualified independent prescribers or be prepared to work towards this qualification

Your role will be to work as a member of the NHS GGC primary care pharmacy team and you will be supported to undertake NES Post-registration Foundation Programme.  The objectives of the team are to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of prescribing and medicines use for patients across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.   You will work closely with GPs, other practice staff, community pharmacists, care home staff, members of the primary healthcare team and central prescribing team colleagues in supporting the development and application of high quality, safe, cost effective, rational and evidence based prescribing in the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).  As you develop, you will work within GP practices, care homes and other healthcare settings to provide individualised clinical care to patients, through clinics, to improve the safety and effectiveness of their medicines, prescribing where appropriate.  You should have a sound clinical knowledge, good IT skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council before commencing in post. Applications are welcome from those due to join the register in summer 2024.

This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.

You may be required to travel between GP practices, our pharmacy hub and care homes to carry out the duties of this post.
