The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Dental Office Coordinator to join our team at Coathill Hospital. Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Director of Public Dental Service and members of the Dental Management Team.

What we'll need you to bring

  • HNC or equivalent qualification plus experience of working at a senior secretarial level within the NHS.
  • Computer and IT skills- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Wide ranging knowledge of office and administrative procedures
  • The ability to work with people.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Organisational and administrative skills.
  • A sympathetic, patient approach and the ability to form congenial working relationships with local dental colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
  • The ability to take direction and work as part of a team through procedures and protocols to meet agreed targets.

It would be great if you also have

  • Evidence of ability to follow reporting mechanisms
  • Knowledge of using patient management systems
  • Experience and knowledge gained in a health care setting would be advantageous
  • Ability to co-ordinate and prioritise a wide range of activities
  • Skills in preparing
  • reports and presentations
  • Ability to deal with difficult, sensitive conservations with patients/staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
