An opportunity has arisen for a Speciality Doctor in Cardiac Surgery to join our team.
One of the largest cardiothoracic programmes in the UK, our team undertake a wide range of procedures including approximately 1300 open heart procedures and almost 1200 thoracic procedures each year. In addition, we are one of the largest robotic thoracic centres in the UK. The unit undertakes heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support (Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service), and adult congenital cardiac surgery (Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Service).
The successful candidate will be fully supported by a thriving and friendly cardiothoracic team. You will share responsibility for the day to day management of patients in our cardiac surgery ward. This will include pre-operative assessment, preparation and post-operative care of all cardiac surgery patients as well as access to a flexible theatre list. Your workload may also include attendance at outpatient clinics & MDT meetings, ward rounds and emergency operating sessions.
This role would suit experienced doctors within the speciality of Cardiac Surgery. Involvement with audit, research, education and leadership will be encouraged. Study leave and financial support are provided.
