Are you interested in developing your surgical experience in Glasgow & Clyde? Does the opportunity to train in a supportive environment with motivated pharmacists appeal to you? Would you like the opportunity to work in specialist referral units, where you can use and develop your pharmacy knowledge and skills?

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced clinical pharmacist with excellent communication skills to join our team in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. You will be part of our surgical and critical care team helping to lead and develop patient focused clinical services to a variety of surgical specialties. You will work in our surgical wards and will also have the opportunity to work within our critical care unit. You will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team participating in team meetings, research and quality improvement. You will also have the opportunity to participate in GGC wide perioperative clinics. You will support the development of our technical staff and foundation pharmacists and trainees. You will act as a source of information and prescribing support providing information on all aspects of drug use including patient safety and also contribute to the delivery the pharmacy strategy. Opportunities to advance your clinical practice in line with the Advanced Practice Curriculum is encouraged. 

Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a busy teaching hospital situated in the North of Glasgow and has an excellent team of friendly pharmacy staff committed to modernisation of services and in particular ward based medicines management, pharmacist prescribing and e-health initiatives.

The post holder should have a least 2 years relevant hospital experience and to have completed or be near to completion of SVTS stage 2 or equivalent. If postgraduate training has been commenced, we will continue to support pharmacists working towards a further postgraduate qualification including independent prescribing, MSC or diploma. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the weekend rota and on call.

This post would provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to expand their clinical knowledge and skills and also to contribute to developing new ways of working to achieve better care for patients. 

The working pattern will be Monday to Friday, with participation in weekends, public holidays and on call shifts.
