About the Radiopharmacy Department:
Radiopharmacy is a team of 10 people, made up of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, scientists and support workers that provide a radiopharmaceutical service to eight hospitals across Lothian, Fife and the Borders, operating under a Manufacturer’s “Specials” Licence, issued by the MHRA. Our positive team culture is built on the values of being knowledgeable, efficient, approachable and having a focus on Quality. Radiopharmacy’s opening hours are 0730 to 1600 Monday to Friday and the Radiopharmacy staff all contribute to the pharmacy service provided to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at weekends and on public holidays.
About the advertised post:
This newly created post will work within the Radiopharmacy Quality Assurance team to maintain the Pharmaceutical Quality System and to act as the designated Deputy Radiation Protection Supervisor under the Ionising Radiation Regulations. There will be a requirement to contribute to production sessions, both as a validated aseptic operator and in performing the final check and release of radiopharmaceuticals manufactured under the MHRA licence. The role will require application of specialist knowledge, skills and experience in order to ensure compliance with regulations surrounding both Radiation Protection and Good Manufacturing Practice.
The post is open to applicants with a background as a Pharmacy Technician, Radiopharmacy Technician, Clinical Technologist or Healthcare Scientist, registered on the relevant accredited professional register (General Pharmaceutical Council, Register of Clinical Technologists, Academy for Healthcare Science, or the Health and Care Professionals Council).

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
