The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join the Acute Surgical Receiving Unit (ASRU) in the post of ANP. ASRU is a multi-speciality assessment to admission unit which hosts the specialities of General Surgery, Vascular, Urology and GP orthopaedics. The team is forward thinking and dynamic and is supported by a supportive management structure and multidisciplinary team.
ASRU can be a rapidly changing and high-pressure environment due to the number of daily admissions but has significant training and development opportunities in order to ensure that patients referred to ASRU receive timely, effective, safe, and patient centred care, in alignment with the ethos of ASRU.
ASRU is a dynamic and innovative healthcare environment which provides acute and emergency care to patients presenting with a variety of surgical conditions, and also encompasses an Ambulatory clinic. The post-holder will work with a range of services and healthcare professionals in the surgical area.
Candidates should have extensive post registration experience, preferably with an acute background. Ideally, you will be working as an ANP currently. You should be able to demonstrate all aspects of the four pillars of advanced practice.
The candidate should have a post grad diploma / MsC in advanced clinical practice and should hold a qualification of independent nurse prescribing or be working towards this qualification. Candidates will be considered who are working towards this qualification and will be at band 7 (annex 21) until completion of post grad diploma.
The successful candidate will be expected to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The successful delivery of safe, effective and efficient person centred care relies on our Advanced Nurse Practitioners having transformational leadership qualities, being flexible to change, working closely as part of a multidisciplinary team and valuing all members of the Surgical Team.
The successful candidate will be a valued and supported team member who will be given opportunities for further learning. There is an established education programme including reflective sessions which are led by the consultant team and clinical supervision is supported by the medical team.
In return we can offer you the opportunity for personal and professional development whilst advancing your career to an advanced practice level. This will be in a supported learning environment where you will be encouraged to embrace the opportunities available.
Individuals who meet the full requirements of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner will commence on Band 7. Applicants who are interested in following the Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner pathway will commence on a percentage of Band 7 depending on level of experience and education requirement in line with Annex 21 Arrangements for Pay and Banding of Trainees (see Paragraph 2(i)). On successful completion of academic/clinical requirements, attainment of PG Diploma in Advanced practice and completion of portfolio you will be transferred to full Band 7 banding.
