About the Organisation:
Public Health Scotland is Scotland’s lead national body for improving and protecting the health and wellbeing of all of Scotland’s people. Our vision is for a Scotland where everybody thrives, a Scotland where life expectancy between our poorest and wealthiest areas gets smaller.

To support this vision, Public Health Scotland collects, validates, interprets and disseminates information on Health, and Health and Social Care in Scotland, providing support and advice to the Scottish Government, NHS Boards, social care organisations, and to a variety of professional bodies and researchers. Please see the Public Health Scotland website for further information on products and  services.

The Post:
The digital health and care environment in Scotland is developing rapidly. Clinical data standards, terminologies and interoperability between systems are at the heart of these developments and provide a framework for consistent and accurate recording to support meaningful comparison and effective decision making. The successful candidate will work alongside other clinical coding tutors to support the work of the national Terminology Advisory Service (including provision of help desk advice) and to develop training materials and deliver clinical coding and terminology training to NHS staff throughout Scotland. In addition, the post holder is expected to manage a variety of clinical coding and terminology related projects (e.g. e-learning developments).

  • A good knowledge and understanding of health information systems and healthcare data collection processes (desirable).
