NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

Fixed-Term / Secondment to 30/09/2026

This is an exciting time of strategic digital change for the GP service within NHS Highland.  To support the National GP IT Re-Provisioning Programme move to a cloud based GP clinical system and cloud based electronic document management system across Scotland, the eHealth Department is looking to recruit a deployment team to support this extensive migration and transition programme.

NHS Highland is looking for an eHealth Support Engineer to join the existing teams as they take on the deployment programme for this national GP IT change.

Working with healthcare professionals across the Board, the post holder will provide technical support and guidance in the implementation and adoption of new technologies and systems and help supplement the existing GPIT engineer teams in North Highland and Argyll & Bute in their GMS service support roles.

We are looking for a highly motivated able and prepared person, to work in both the supervised and unsupervised requirements of the position. A good team playing individual with excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of the importance of customer service.  The ability to empathise both in dealing with demanding users and in advising users of all levels in terms of use of IT services or in meeting new requirements is key.

The post holder will participate in the upgrading, support and implementation of the technical requirements required to allow the smooth transition to a new national GPIT system and document management system in an externally hosted environment.

Proficiency in the following Microsoft products:  Hyper-V, Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, GPO, MS 365, SCCM, and WIN10 desktop environments. Experience of  hardware/operating system installation and printer setups is essential. Experience of current Microsoft Office applications and their delivery / support is also required. Knowledge of GP clinical systems (primarily Vision and Docman) would be advantageous.

Informal enquiries should be made to Allen Perrin, Interim GP IT Manager, at allen.perrin2@nhs.scot.
