We are seeking to recruit a Bank Assistant Financial Services Accountant within our busy Financial Services team based at Assynt House, Inverness.

The successful applicant will provide support to the Expenditure, Income and Non-Core teams within Financial Services. Responsible for the overall management and performance of these teams, ensuring all relevant Standing Financial Instructions and Standard Financial Procedures are adhered to and all transactions are processed accurately to meet all internal, external, and statutory deadlines.

Responsible for ensuring all control accounts in the balance sheet in relation to the sections managed are appropriately reconciled within a strict timetable, thus ensuring the integrity of the NHS Highland financial ledger and providing other finance staff with a reliable reporting tool essential for the accurate production of financial and the completion of annual accounts at the end of the financial year.

The bank post will be involved in the preparation and completion of annual accounts for the area specified and returns as appropriate, including agreement of balances with other NHS Boards and the Scottish Government (SG).

Candidates must have excellent organisational and communication skills both written and oral, attention to detail and be able to manage and motivate a large team.

Ideally the post requires a CCAB qualified accountant with one year post qualification experience of managing a finance team or studying towards the final stage of a professional Accounting Qualification and have at least 5 years’ experience working in a large Finance Department at a senior level.

Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of software is required, along with the ability to carry out finance tasks using NHS Highland accounting software. You will have the ability to work as part of a team and should also be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
