Position:
An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Technician based at University Hospital Ayr
What you will do:
Having gained a recognised apprenticeship and with extensive experience in this field you will form part of a team of electrical technicians reporting directly to the Electrical Supervisor, responsible for the delivery and maintenance of electrical engineering services within an acute hospital environment and across community premises.
You should be able to demonstrate versatility and experience on a range of complex electrical engineering maintenance work task schedules in addition to being an effective communicator.
You will also be required to take part in an on call rota and be able to work at other hospitals within Ayrshire to meet the demands of the service. Due to the requirement to participate in an on call rota it is desirable that the successful applicant should live no more than 30 minutes travelling time from the hospital.

A City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering and Level 3 Certificate in 18th Edition of IEE Regulations, or equivalent for the trade are essential. You must have experience in maintaining building services within a hospital environment including Fire Alarm systems, Emergency lighting, Low Voltage (LV) infrastructure, Lifts, Building Management Systems and use of an electronic based CaFM system is desirable and would be an advantage.

Hours: 37 per week (8.00am to 4.30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 1.30pm Friday)
This is a permanent position.
A car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
