Public Health Intelligence Adviser - Evaluation
About the Organisation:
Public Health Scotland is a new organisation, set up to improve the lives of people in Scotland, to reduce health inequalities that persist in many of our communities. It’s an exciting time to join the organisation, with PHS at the forefront of Scotland’s efforts to tackle Coronavirus and its implications across society.
The Post:
We have a vacancy for 1WTE Public Health Adviser in the Evaluation Team within the Public Health Science workforce. The post is permanent and will work as part of the evaluation team to contribute to our programme of work to monitor and evaluate work public health policy. Posts are generic evaluation posts, that is they are not tied to a specific policy area but usually post holders have a programme of work that largely focuses on a topic area or related topics although these may change as priorities change. As an example of the types of work, we currently have people working on evaluation of policies related to children and young people, substance misuse, mental wellbeing and vaccination, amongst other policy areas. The work will involve leading the ongoing delivery of a large, multi-component evaluation, building and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders to enable meaningful engagement to ensure evaluations meets their needs, and reports to funders, on progress, risks and mitigation strategies, and developing dissemination strategies that facilitate the embedding of learning. The post holders will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including experts by experience, statutory and third sector organisations, to achieve the strategic objectives of the evaluation.
The Candidate:
You will have a proven track record in developing monitoring and evaluation plans and experience delivering high quality mixed method evaluation. Experience of interpreting both quantitative and qualitative data in evaluation is essential. Strong partnership and interpersonal skills are essential, as are excellent writing skills.
Location and Working Pattern:
Based in the Glasgow or Edinburgh office. Monday-Friday normal business hours.
During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
