NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. An opportunity has become available for full-time Mental Health Support Worker to be based within Community Mental Health Services in Inverness and surrounding areas. The aim is to increase the existing Mental Health Support work establishment in order to improve targeted Support provision to individuals with moderate to severe Mental Health problems. The purpose of these posts is to provide support to individuals experiencing moderate to severe mental health problems and who are on the caseload of the trained staff within the team. The post holder will be required to work to a specific plan of care for service user and to contribute to initiating, developing and reviewing the care plan.
The support worker will be expected to work within a recovery model, utilising a person centred approach in order to work towards maximising independence for all service users. The work will be interesting and varied and will include working with individuals in their own homes and the community and will at times include inreach support to individuals who are inpatients in New Craigs hospital in order to support Discharge Planning and Transition. The successful candidate will be an individual who is enthusiastic, person centred and outcome focused in their approach and who has experience or an interest in working within Mental Health Services.
Candidates should be educated to SVQ level 3 (Health and Social Care) or equivalent or be willing to work towards this within a given timescale.
