We are seeking experienced senior Health Care Support Workers for the pre-operative assessment team in South Glasgow. This busy service provides education and assessment for patients in preparation for surgery.

The successful candidate will work under the direct/indirect supervision of and in support of the registered nurse, carrying out delegated nursing and non-nursing duties including:

  • To support the delivery of investigation clinics - perform venepuncture duties, ECG, Infection Screening, BMI recording, Observations, specimen collection. 
  • To assist the trained nurse during clinic in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care, ensuring the registered nurse is regularly updated on patient's condition and progress where appropriate.
  • The POA HCSW's manage and book patient appointments for POA using a Trakcare workbench. 
  • Good communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of IT systems and familiarity with Trakcare patient system would be advantageous.

Good organisational and time management skills are essential.
