    Our Service

Medicine of the Elderly outpatient services, based currently on the Liberton Hospital site, form part of the Integrated Older People’s Service (IOPS), comprising both Day Hospital and the Edinburgh Hospital at Home team.

    Service Goals

    - The delivery of safe, high quality care to all patients.

    - Supporting a professional working environment where multidisciplinary team working is at

the centre of our practice and where the contributions of all team members are respected and valued.

    - Creating an environment where the personal and professional development of all team members is encouraged and supported.

    - Participating in the Public Health agenda by identifying and promoting the health and social care needs of the local population in partnership with colleagues, patients, carers and the local community.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Hiring Manager.

Other opportunities are available, please see attached spotlights for further information.

You will have the opportunity to discuss at interview which role is most suited to your current circumstances.

Following successful interview all roles will have Induction and a 12 week probation period, where full support will be given.

**Please note we anticipate a high level of interest in this position and may close the vacancy early once a sufficient amount of applications are received. Therefore, please make sure you complete and submit your application at an early stage**

Please note that this advert is for substantive posts only and not the staff bank.

If you are currently working within NHS Lothian in a substantive Health Care Support Worker post, and wish to transfer to another area at the same grade, an option that is available to you is the internal transfer process. Please speak to your Charge Nurse for more information.
