Job Advert

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.

An exciting opportunity has become available to support the Occupational Therapy Service based at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital, Kirkcaldy.  You will work as part of the Intermediate Care Team (ICT) within the Integrated Community Assessment and Support Services (ICASS), West Division.

Intermediate Care incorporates a range of services designed to enable people to remain at home and includes rehabilitation and re-ablement within patients’ own homes and other community settings.

We work closely with other members of the ICASS team and wider community services, including the third sector, delivering quality services focusing on “what matters” to patients.

You must be able to work independently as well as being a good team player, and we expect a sound level of communication, organisational and clinical reasoning skills. You must also be able to demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, and a willingness to be flexible in terms of service delivery within the system.

You will be expected to be educated to HND level in health-related subject/SCQF level 8 or SVQ3/HNC plus evidence of experience working within health and/or social care and managing a delegated caseload.  There is also an expectation in the role that you will participate and support service development e.g. audits, training, and student education.

Within the service we actively encourage continuous professional development (CDP) and our service offers excellent formal and informal supervision, providing a framework to support this.

Due to the nature of the community working the ability to travel throughout the area in a timely manner is essential.  There may also be occasions you may be asked to support teams in other localities.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

Please note the salary scale for this post is pro rata for part time hours.

For informal enquiries please contact Claire Dumbreck, OT on 01592 729555.
