Volunteering makes a huge contribution to NHS Scotland. It improves the experience of patients and their families, adds considerable value to the delivery of health services, and improves the health and wellbeing of volunteers themselves. The NHS Scotland Volunteering Programme drives forward volunteering through:

  • Building and sharing evidence demonstrating the impact of volunteering.
  • Using knowledge and expertise to improve volunteering.
  • Providing assurance that volunteering in NHSScotland is high quality, safe and effective.

In the role of Senior Project Officer – Volunteering, you will bring exceptional project co-ordination skills and demonstrable experience in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of multiple projects.

Using your excellent communication and stakeholder management skills you will provide subject matter expertise on volunteering related matters both externally to volunteering teams across NHS Scotland, and internally to Healthcare Improvement Scotland.  You will be experienced in working with a diverse range of professionals and the public.

We require a motivated individual and a team player as you will be expected to plan and manage your own workload and that of the team, working autonomously within the parameters of your agreed remit.

Key areas of responsibility for the role include:

  • Managing the on-going development of the NHS Scotland Volunteering Management System, which is used to manage volunteer capacity, support recruitment, and create reports for multiple audiences.
  • Project manage and deliver the continuous development and maintenance of networks, training, resources and tools to support good practice in volunteering.

Educated to degree level and / or with equivalent experience, you will be skilled in prioritising workload, managing deadlines and be able to deliver high quality outputs. Proven report writing skills are also essential.
