NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This post may close early due to the volume of response. Please submit your application as soon as possible.

The shift pattern is Monday-Friday.

A Band 3 Health Care Support Worker is required for our busy Day Surgery Unit. The theatre department at The New Victoria Hospital Day Surgery Unit consists of 8 theatres with associated recovery facility and admission and discharge unit. It also includes a treatment room and a 23 hour stay ward. We offer a variety of specialities including Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, General, Maxilla facial and Gynaecology.

The department is fully committed to increasing our capacity to care for increasingly complex patients as per the British association of Day Surgery recommendations. As part of the multidisciplinary team it is essential that you have good numeracy/literacy skills and experience working with members of the public. Previous experience of working in a clinical environment is preferable.

Candidates should have a flexible committed approach and work to a high standard within the multi-disciplinary team. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative but also part of an integrated team and will take a sensitive and caring approach to people. You are required to demonstrate flexibility within your working week and within the south sector. Furthermore, you will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service.
