Highly Specialised Clinical Pharmacist – Unscheduled Care and Electronic Prescribing.

A very exciting opportunity has arisen within the NHS Grampian Acute Pharmacy team to employ a senior pharmacist within Unscheduled Care and Electronic Prescribing.

The NHS in the North of Scotland (NoS) comprises of 6 NHS Boards - NHS Grampian, NHS Highland, NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland, NHS Tayside and NHS Western Isles.  These 6 boards are collaborating on a transformational change to install a Regional Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) system which will support safe and effective high quality clinical care for the population of the NoS. This is the first time in the UK that a single HEPMA system will be installed and used by multiple NHS Boards.

We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative and ambitious pharmacist to help lead the further development, implementation and business as usual operation of the HEPMA system across NHS Grampian.  There are two full time roles which will be a minimum of fifty percent clinical within the Unscheduled Care speciality and up to fifty percent HEPMA. We currently have one person in post and are looking for a second pharmacist to work alongside.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering a highly specialised clinical pharmacy service to unscheduled care within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.   They will take a lead in developing and providing pharmaceutical care for patients within Acute Medical initial Assessment, Medical short stay unit and the Emergency Department all within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.  They will be an experienced clinical pharmacist with good clinical knowledge and able to work effectively as part of a team in a multidisciplinary environment.  They will also be required to take an active role in the supervision and training of staff and students, to act as a role model and to participate in audit and research

There will be some requirement for weekend and additional hours during HEPMA rollout and a commitment to the pharmacy team weekend working on a rota basis.

Informal enquiries about this post should be directed to Kim Cruttenden (Principal pharmacist) gram.pharmacyari@nhs.scot or Karen McKessack (Medical team lead).
