NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

Occupational Therapy Clinical Support Worker (Occupational Therapy Assistant) – Higher Level Band 3)

Tier 4 CAMHS Royal Hospital for Children and Young People

Permanent post 0.5wte – 18.6 hours

The dynamic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Tier 4 Occupational Therapy team have a vacancy for an OT Clinical Support Worker (OT CSW). The team is based at the Melville Unit, Royal Hospital for Children and Young People at the Edinburgh Bioquarter Campus and works with young people (usually aged 12-18) who are experiencing complex and severe mental health problems (including depression, eating disorders, and psychosis).  The young people will be receiving support from CAMHS as day patients, inpatients or from the assertive outreach team.

The team provide Occupational Therapy which aims to improve health and well being through participation in occupation.  More information on Child and Adolescent Occupational Therapy can be found on:

The OT CSW works with young people individually and in groups supporting them to identify and build interests, skills, motivation and confidence.  He or she will work within the CAMHS departments but will also often use community facilities with young people.

The successful candidate should enjoy being in the company of young people, be friendly, empathic, energetic, practical and creative.   They should work well as part of a team with good communication skills.  He or she will be well supported by the OT team, with regular supervision and development.
