The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join NHS Lanarkshire CAMHS as an assistant Psychologist. The posts are based in a multi disciplinary locality CAMHS team where you will the opportunity to experience clinical work, audit and research, in conjunction with robust supervision.

Job Purpose

  • This role is specific to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and the Neurodevelopmental Service
  • The post holder operationally reports to Team Leader and professional lead
  • This post will support teams to provide psychological interventions, family interventions and interagency partnership approaches to care
  • The post holder will have opportunities to administer, score and learn about psychometric assessments under supervision
  • The post will actively support gathering of data, for the purposes of audit/service evaluation

Additional Information Specific to the Role

  • This post will support the overseeing and running of assessment clinics, produce assessment packs and post diagnostic support packs, and audit the process in an effort to make the assessment process more streamlined  
  • Support data analysis

What we'll need you to bring


The Post-holder is required to have at least an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Psychology.

They must be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartership of the British Psychological Society (GBC)

They must hold a driving licence and have access to transport.

They must have a high level of computer skills and knowledge of programmes and statistical packages.

The post-holder should have had experience of relevant paid/voluntary work.

 

It would be great if you also have


Membership of/affiliation with the British Psychological Society

Familiarity with range of theoretical approaches for working with individuals, groups and wider systems   

Experience with literature searches

Commitment to a career in clinical psychology

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
