The Department of Public Health and Health Policy aims to improve and protect the health of people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland.

The department is organised around Population Health and Health Protection. The post-holders will work within a Population Health Team which involves place-based working focusing on partnership, prevention, and inequalities. 

Reducing the harms from smoking is a key priority for Scotland as we work towards a smokefree nation over the next decade.  NHS Lothian is seeking a dynamic individual to join the Quit Your Way team and helps us improve our performance supporting people to quit smoking. 

Working with a range of partners to support enagement with the service is key to increasing our outcomes over the next few years.  As well as direct service delivery with individuals and groups you will be able to demonstrate effective communication and influencing skills with the healthcare workforce and partner agencies to improve engagement with Quit Your Way services.

The role is within an NHS Lothian acute setting:

0.4 WTE of a full time 37 hour post within St John’s Hospital, Livingston

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post. 

Please note: As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
