Scotland – hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future. This is a national role with some travel throughout Scotland required.
Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) are currently recruiting four Strategic National Clinical Lead posts each covering one of the following areas:
- Acute
- Psychiatry
- Child Health (Paediatrics and Neonatal)
- Obstetrics

Working with the national improvement organisation you will contribute across the breadth of HIS’s quality management work. This will include providing expert knowledge and expertise to our assurance and improvement work as well as being involved in high level strategic discussions and horizon scanning to ensure the work of the organisation is impactful, useful and relevant for those working in the health and social care system.
These roles are an opportunity to make an important contribution to HIS. You will work across a broad strategic caseload as part of a cohesive team alongside senior medical practitioners and other multi – professional clinicians. You will work to influence and shape lasting, positive and sustainable improvements across the whole of the health and care system in Scotland.
As a senior medical practitioner with active involvement with clinical networks in your professional area, you will be uniquely placed to identify the connections and opportunities created by system-wide working. You will collaborate with all health boards and other national organisations to deliver a relentless focus on the delivery of safe and effective care.
We are looking for Strategic National Clinical Leads with strong interpersonal, networking and influencing skills. Ideally you will have experience of engaging with diverse groups and wider multi-professional teams as well as relevant leadership or managerial experience within health and social care.
As part of the recruitment process you will be asked to complete a short task for submission prior to the interview. It is anticipated interviews will take place week commencing 17th June, remotely via MS Teams.
