Job Advert

Data Support Officer

This post is a Fixed Term / Secondment position until 31 March 2025

About the Organisation:

National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level.  NSS supports customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards. Our priority is always the same – to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland. We do this by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver fit for purpose solutions and systems, delivering high quality services that help our stakeholders to free up resources so they can be re-invested into essential services.

The Post:

The NHS Scotland Scan for Safety (SfS) Programme was established by NSS in 2021. During 2022 a legislative requirement for all UK health and care providers was established for them to collect data relating to the devices that are used in patient care, with the initial focus being on implantable devices. This is a high-profile Programme involving engagement at all levels across NHS Scotland.

The Data Support Officer will join an established team with a passion for transforming services to improve healthcare for citizens in Scotland. The role is critical in ensuring core data is collected to support the implementation of Point of Care (PoC) scanning as part of the role out of the national Inventory Management System and will be a key contributor to shaping the delivery of this wide-ranging programme of transformational change.

The Candidate:

You will have an enthusiastic approach, excellent organisation and communication skills and hold a qualification within materials / inventory control management (HND or equivalent) or have equivalent experience.

Experience of implementing good stock control practices and product data collection and analysis is essential.

You will have a proven track record as a team player and be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

It is vital that you demonstrate the NSS values of working with respect and care, openness and integrity, to focus on our customers, demonstrate commitment to each other and excel and improve.

Knowledge and experience of the NHS would be advantageous.

Location and Working Pattern:

The location of the post will be Canderside, Larkhall, however we have a hybrid working policy and working from home is actively supported.

Due to the nature of the Scan for Safety Programme, the role requires the post holder to be on site in Health Board acute locations across NHS Scotland for periods of time.

The work pattern is Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.

Benefits:

Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits. Click here to view the full range of NHS NSS Employee Benefits
