Applications are invited for an experienced Learning Disability Nurse to join our Behaviour Support and Intervention Community Team based at the Strathmartine Centre in Dundee.
The Behaviour Support and Intervention Community Team is a multidisciplinary team, providing highly developed, safe and supportive care and treatment for adults with Learning Disabilities who display a wide variety of symptoms, complexities and needs which may include challenging behaviours and/or dual diagnosis e.g. epilepsy, sensory impairment, mental illness, autism.
The successful candidate will form part of an experienced Community Learning Disability Nursing Team and will be expected to participate in both group and individual work with clients.
The post holder will aim to act as a specialist bridge between individuals, their families and/or carers, GPs, acute services and a variety of other statutory and third sector agencies.
Clinical work will be undertaken in a variety of community settings to support individuals to fulfil their potential, achieve goals and maintain optimum health and wellbeing.
As a Charge Nurse, you will exhibit strong leadership and management skills, will influence and develop practice and will take forward new initiatives within a busy multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for leading and managing the day to day work of the nursing team and will support the Nurse Team Leader to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, person-centered care and cost effective services.
Personal and professional development is structured via the Turas appraisal system. You will be actively encouraged to participate in a variety of learning and training opportunities, share knowledge and skills within the nursing and wider team and be able to identify training initiatives for junior staff and students.
You must be an experienced 1st Level Registered Learning Disability Nurse and registered with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
