Position
An opportunity has arisen for 5 permanent Senior Healthcare Support Workers at Woodland View, Ayrshire Central Hospital.
What you will do:
The Senior HCSW works as part of the multidisciplinary team carrying out a range of personal care activities, clinical care tasks and other duties as delegated by and in support of a Registered Nurse.
You will review the patient’s individual care plan and will competently perform the necessary aspects of care, within their scope of clinical practise, for the patient as per the individual care plan to ensure delivery of a high standard, recording care delivery and reporting back to the Registered Nurse.
This role has a unique dual role which incorporates both the integrated health and social care Intensive CPN Team (ICPNT) and the Mental Health Unscheduled Care Hub. Nursing staff within the Hub will predominantly comprise of ICPNT staff and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
You will work within the Hub environment and will also be an integral part of the wider Unscheduled Care Service involving community visits or working alongside an Unscheduled Care Service clinician in the out of hours period during the period of a clinical assessment. Contribute to the smooth running of the Hub taking responsibility for equipment cleaning; stock maintenance, e.g. equipment; and administration duties as required. Ensure the integrity of the service is maintained and that the core functions of the Mental Health Unscheduled Care Services are delivered and contribute to meeting the clinical governance agenda. Work closely with Local Authority, GP’s, Addiction services, Forensic services, Acute Admission Wards, Emergency Departments, Liaison and Voluntary sector partners in providing integrated services.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
SVQ3 in Healthcare related subject and / or equivalent knowledge gained in a relevant area through experience, on the job training and/or short courses or appropriate competency to undertake role.
Demonstrate a range of core skills to competently undertake patient care and other tasks and activities.
Ability to show initiative and work without direct supervision as required, on a daily basis.
Training is provided to enable the Senior HCSW to comply with the Mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland 2009; and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers, both as amended from time to time.
Understands and complies with HCSW mandatory induction standards and code of conduct.
Completion and maintenance of statutory & mandatory learning activities.
Awareness, understanding and compliance of policies and practices e.g. Escort Policy, Prevention and control of infection and Health and Safety.
Hours:
37 per week
Working within a rota system which contains flexible, unsociable hours including night shift and weekend working.
Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
