NHS Orkney is currently seeking a skilled and dynamic individual to join our team as a People Manager.  This role is critical in providing proactive, cost-effective, and high-quality People services, which will have a significant contribution to the overall healthcare provision in the stunning Orkney Islands.

Key responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide effective leadership and support to the Head of People and Culture, ensuring alignment with the Board’s strategies and Annual Delivery Plan.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage the People team, fostering professionalism and excellence while providing direction and support to practitioners.
  • Operational Excellence: Lead the provision of an effective operational People service, ensuring adherence to professional standards and organisational objectives.
  • Expert Guidance: Offer expert judgement, advice, and guidance to management teams, developing and implementing people plans that meet service needs.
  • Specialist Support: Provide complex professional People guidance to all managers, addressing a range of employment matters.
  • Project Leadership: Take ownership of corporate People projects, collaborating to implement strategies supporting Board objectives.
  • Capability Enhancement: Continually improve People management capability, providing responsive support to service groups, integrating strategic and operational priorities.

When comparing pay rates across England and Scotland, NHS Scotland pays between 1.3% to 14.1% higher than England across all Agenda for Change bands. For this role, the pay rate in NHS Scotland is 4.4% to 7.5% higher than in England.
