An opportunity has arisen for a Patient Access Manager based at Ayrshire Maternity Unit based at University Hospital Crosshouse.

What you will do:

You will provide operational support to the Women & Children’s Services Management team at Ayrshire Maternity Unit. This is a key role within Women & Children’s Services to ensure that Patient Access performance standards are consistently met.

You will work closely with the Head of Operational Management and Clinical Directors for the service in providing direct operational management to Women & Children’s Services.

You will be responsible for the development and provision of the medical administrative service within Women & Children’s Services, ensuring implementation of NHS systems, to maintain effective management of outpatient and inpatient waiting lists thereby facilitating the delivery of effective patient care.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You should have a relevant degree in Business Administration or demonstrable equivalent experience gained through training and experience. And be able to demonstrate evidence of relevant CPD.

You should have experience of business management and developing innovative and creative solutions to achieve organisation objectives preferably within a Women & Children’s Healthcare environment or equivalent.

You should have experience of a range of information data systems, and working knowledge of NHS information systems. 

You should have sound understanding of waiting list management and people management experience, including change management, negotiation and project planning

You will require the ability to analyse and prepare comprehensive detailed reports, have expert knowledge of IT packages including Microsoft© Office and web-based applications, and the ability to prioritise workload for yourself and your team.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and team working, and be able to work on your own initiative.

Hours: 37 per week.

This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity for 11 months.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
