40 Hours per week (with a 1:5 on call commitment attracting a 2A banding supplement)
Commencement date in August 2024 for 12 months.
The post holder will be based primarily at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, but will be required to attend multi-organ retrievals at hospitals throughout Scotland and the UK. In addition, the post holder may be required to attend outreach follow-up and assessment clinics in Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness.
This 12-month post will provide on call support for the Scottish Organ Retrieval Team and activities of the Edinburgh Transplant Unit and will also offer the opportunity for a period of dedicated research.
Applicant should have completion of Foundation Programme and core surgical training or equivalent.
Evidence of research activity and presentations.
Evidence of poster or oral presentations at national or international meetings.
GMC registered medical practitioner.
Licence to practice.
The Edinburgh Transplant Centre provides medical care at a national level for Scotland through the liver, pancreas and the islet isolation and transplant programme. In addition the Centre is co-commissioned by NSD to provide a national kidney transplantation programme.
The Edinburgh Transplant Centre contributes to the National Organ Retrieval Service (NORS) through Retrieval Edinburgh, the regional abdominal organ retrieval service (RED Team). The RED Team has primary responsibility to undertake retrievals in Scotland but is also required to undertake organ retrieval in other countries within the United Kingdom as required. RED is commissioned by NHS Blood and Transplant.
