Clinical Support Assistant

Band 2 – £23,362 - £25,368 pro rata

Plus £1,279 Distant Islands Allowance pro rata

19.80 Hours per Week


We are looking for a motivated, friendly person who enjoy’s the challenge of working as part of a team in a changing environment.

Ideally, you have a good general education, experience of working with the public in an administrative role, have demonstrable good communication skills and enjoy working in a busy environment. Computer literacy and attention to detail are essential.

The successful candidate will be based in the Western Isles Hospital, rotating between Medical Records and the Clinical Wards.

Training for the position will be provided in-house. This post is subject to Disclosure Scotland checks.

The successful candidate will need to achieve the Mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers and comply with the Code of Conduct within three months of full time employment or up to six months for part time workers.  For further information see www.hcswtoolkit.nes.scot.nhs.uk

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
