Corporate Communications/Marketing Assistant

(Public Health Directorate)

Full-time 37 hours per week.


An exciting opportunity exists for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to assist with the Social Marketing programmes which support NHS Grampian’s Public Health Directorate. The post will also support education initiatives and events to promote the appropriate use of NHS services working in partnership with other NHS, local authority, voluntary and community organisations. The successful candidate will provide assistance and occasionally lead projects; involving research, concept and design, key message, materials distribution, unpaid and paid media coverage and evaluation.


JOB PURPOSE

The Public Health Directorate actively supports the corporate planning function of NHS Grampian and provides leadership and direction for the delivery of the public health function across the 3 Community Health Partnerships and the acute sector.

This post will support the planning, delivery and evaluation of designated projects and pieces of work, using marketing and project management approaches in support of Public Health’s health improvement agenda within the health promotion, health protection and healthcare services teams.


MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Assist Communications Officer in supporting national and local public awareness campaigns
  • Work proactively with the Communications Officer to successfully gain media attention, adding value to messages, projects and campaigns
  • Support the organisations commitment to public involvement and patient focus, by involving target groups in all campaigns
  • Supporting in the delivery of events/roadshows
  • Support and maintain designated sections of the NHS Grampian internet, intranet, Hi-Net and Public Health websites
  • Produce and edit content for – newsletters, adverts, webpages, communication plans and social media
  • Produce and edit video content for use on social media
  • Support designated social media pages
  • Produce surveys and reports

(Full training and support will be given on all aspects of the role)


DECISION AND JUDGEMENTS

  • Support the decision making process for choosing the best delivery of social marketing activities within your given projects relating to Public Health. Including budgets.
  • Input into decisions and judgements relating to creative development and review of new materials, involving the target group, also using evaluation and previous research. Whilst justifying decisions.


COMMUNICATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS

  • This post requires excellent skills in all forms of verbal and written communication and the ability to develop and maintain positive, professional and constructive relationships with a variety of disciplines from all sectors of industry.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Mainly office-based, keyboard skills
  • Occasionally attending public events requiring manual handling of displays and promotional equipment


MOST CHALLENGING PARTS OF THE JOB

  • Finding creative and cost effective ways to use marketing methods/tools which will successfully promote health improvement using key messaging and optimising the use of local services.
  • Prioriising a busy workload, working on a diverse variety of projects at once


KNOWLEDGE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Working towards degree level or equivalent
  • Interest in marketing, advertising or sales
  • Commitment to customer service
  • Tact and diplomacy skills
  • Ability to contribute as member of team as well as using initiative
  • Ability to juggle priorities and  meet deadlines
