Applications are invited for Clinical Fellow posts in Neonatology in the Royal Alexandra Hospital Neonatal Unit, Paisley at middle grade or ST3+ level. Posts are available from 7th August 2024 for 12 months. They mirror the training opportunities of West of Scotland trainees at ST3 and above (ST3+).

These posts involve second on duties in Neonatology on the middle grade rota supervising junior colleagues at Foundation/ ST2 level with support from experienced ANNP’s and Consultant Neonatologists. These posts are suitable for individuals who are interested in a career in Paediatrics requiring relevant experience for level 2 training (or Tier 2 Progress Plus) and would also be of interest to individuals interested in sub specialty training in Neonatology at a later date.

Essential Criteria:

  • GMC registration and a license to practice.
  • A minimum of 24 months experience in paediatrics
  • Previous employment in a neonatal unit of at least 6 months (not including foundation modules)
  • Evidence of achievement of ST3 competencies in paediatrics
  • Newborn Life Support or equivalent qualification
  • Basic computing skills

Applications that do not demonstrate essential requirements cannot be considered

Desirable Criteria:

  • 6 months tertiary level NICU experience within the NHS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently without consultant on-site presence

Although Clinical fellow posts provide equivalent experience to run through training they are not recognised for training by the RCPCH.
