Paediatric Physiotherapy Lead
Grade: Band 8A
Hours of work: Ideally this is a full time position, although the duties of the role could be allocated as part of a job share arrangement.
This role may also be considered as a secondment opportunity for a 2 year period for someone considering taking that next step professionally.
The children’s physiotherapy service is looking for an experienced operational and professional manager to lead the paediatric physiotherapy team within child health, NHS Grampian. You would be working within a highly motivated and welcoming team to provide a specialist clinical service alongside operational and strategic leadership. The physiotherapy team comprises 18.06 wte staff who are based in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and in six Child Development Teams across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire; professional support is provided to the Neonatal Unit.
The children’s physiotherapy service provides assessment, therapy and support to children and families within the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, acute services, in and out patients – from most specialty areas - as well as in various community settings including within clinics, education and at home. At times outreach support is provided for areas out with Grampian in other parts of the North of Scotland.
The post holder will work alongside other Allied Health Professional (AHP) service leads to provide a cohesive and co-ordinated children’s therapy service to ensure robust service delivery aligning to national and local priorities and will be accountable to the lead allied health professional within Combined Child Health. You will be required to work closely with a wide range of other professionals from health and other agencies to ensure that children and families experience multi-agency practice. There is good team working with other physiotherapy services across NHS Grampian through our uni-professional committee and we are committed to providing excellent support to our staff, encouraging personal and professional development
To apply for this post, you must be an HCPC registered physiotherapist, with significant professional experience, some of which should have been within paediatrics. You should be able to demonstrate effective leadership e.g. of teams and projects, have experience of service development and improvement, possess excellent communication skills and a keen interest in service management. An awareness of policy and practice issues relevant to the children’s agenda and to paediatric physiotherapy is essential.
