An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic Registered Mental Health Nurse(RMN) with at least 2 years community experience at a Band 5 level to join the Perinatal Mental Health Service as a Community Charge Nurse (Band 6). The Community Charge Nurse offers specialist assessment which includes the possible impact of a woman’s mental health on an unborn baby or infant, risk identification and the implementation of evidence-based treatment and interventions, initiating the involvement of other members of the perinatal team and/or colleagues from other areas when required. They will be responsible for the management of their own caseload by admitting, assessing, care planning and discharging patients as appropriate in collaboration with other team members.
The Community Charge Nurse will be responsible for leading, managing and providing clinical and caseload management / supervision to junior members of nursing staff within their identified sub-team. The Community Charge Nurse is also responsible for acting upon referrals from other health professionals and offer a consultancy service to Midwives, Health Visitors and Community Mental Health team staff on perinatal mental health issues. The Perinatal Mental Health Service provides a Community Psychiatric Nursing (CPN) service for patients residing within the Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS catchment area who are experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of illness during the perinatal period. The service aim to provide a comprehensive and individualised package of care for the patient and infant within the patient’s family and community environment while also providing psychiatric liaison to the health board’s maternity units.
Training and development opportunities are promoted within the team to ensure our team is efficiently skilled and supported to work in this challenging clinical speciality. The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Interview dates will be confirmed in due course.
