An exciting opportunity has arisen at New Victoria Day surgery Unit for a B7 Senior Charge Nurse/ODP to lead a perioperative team within the unit.
New Victoria Hospital Day Surgery Unit Theatres. Adult Perioperative Department. Senior Charge Nurse Post Band 7. The New Victoria Day Surgery unit comprises of 8 theatres and their associated recovery areas plus a busy admission and discharge area with its associated 23 hour stay ward. It cares for surgical patients in multiple specialities including ophthalmology, urology, general surgery, ENT, Gynaecology and orthopaedics.
The successful candidate will work predominantly 0.5 WTE in General Surgery and 0.5 WTE in Urology speciality but also have responsibility for additional services including pain service interventions. The successful candidate will be expected lead the daily management and strategic planning of these services and contribute to service provision within the department as a whole.
The post holder must demonstrate a high standard of clinical competence within their field in order to be responsible for providing clinical leadership- within the perioperative team and promote the operational management for the delivery of care in order to ensure high quality care to our surgical patients. The post holder will work within the nursing and multi –professional team to ensure these standards of care are met and maintained. You will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of individualised care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards. The successful candidate must possess excellent leadership qualities and demonstrate daily the ability to motivate and inspire the multidisciplinary team.
The post holder requires to be a First Level Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience. You should have appropriate relevant experience that aligns with this job description and show evidence of continuing professional development. They must have appropriate /relevant knowledge and skills in general and urology surgery preferably plus management experience.
This position is open to existing Band 6 staff or staff at Band 7 Level.
