An opportunity has arisen for a permanent SSTS Officer based at Greenan House, Ailsa Hospital.

What you will do:

As an SSTS Officer you will work within the Finance Department.

You will work as part of a team delivering an accurate, efficient and confidential payroll service. You will take responsibility for maintaining accurate data of unsociable hours, overtime and attendance records with the Scottish Standard Time System (SSTS) to ensure that all data captured by the system represents the true shift patterns, prior to creating a file for release to the payroll system. This includes the delivery of training for all STS users and the provision of advice and guidance to managers, HR colleagues and staff members.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

For entry, SVQ4 in Administration (or equivalent) or relevant experience. A minimum of 5 standard grades at credit level pass in Maths and English. Must have extensive knowledge of all Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions of Service and ideally have previous experience in administering a time and attendance system.

You will be required to interpret Agenda for Change Terms and conditions of service circulars issued by the Scottish Executive Health Department, along with changes to local and national policies.

You will have the proven ability in teaching/instructions techniques to develop and deliver associated training programme

Expertise in using the SSTS, e-Payroll and Business Objects is required and excellent communication and inter-personal skills to enable effective communication with all levels of staff from a wide range of disciplines.

Hours: 37 per week, over 5 days. Flexitime is offered.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
