Specialist Paediatric Radiographers Band 6


An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Radiographer to join our friendly team of Specialist Paediatric Radiographers in Glasgow. The role is based at the Royal Hospital for Children (RHC), specialising in Paediatric Healthcare for children and young people from birth up to their 16th birthday. 

The hospital is recognised as one of the leading Paediatric training centres in the UK with access to all specialties including Cardiac, Craniofacial, Molecular Therapy, Neurosurgery, and a high Neonatal workload in the adjoining Maternity Hospital. For a number of services, RHC is recognised as the sole provider in Scotland. 

The department is dedicated to paediatric imaging with two MRI Scanners, a high specification Cardiac CT Scanner, Cardiac Cath Lab, an Interventional Radiology Suite, Fluoroscopy Room, and several Plain Film x-ray rooms. There are also SPECT CT Gamma Cameras, a Dexa Scanner, as well as numerous Ultrasound machines, Image Intensifiers and Mobile Units.

The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow forms part of the West of Scotland Trauma Network, and as a Paediatric Major Trauma Centre, provides the full range of imaging services including fast tracked access to CT.

The Radiology department strives to provide excellent patient focussed care while providing an innovative learning environment to enable the successful candidate to develop exceptional skills and knowledge in a wide range of Specialist Paediatric Imaging Modalities.

Once in post, full training will be provided for the successful applicant. You will be required to participate in a department shift system covering the service 24/7. There will be a commitment to 7 day working over an extended day, therefore a flexible approach will be required.  It is essential you have a BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography / Imaging Sciences with current registration with the HCPC. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
