NHS Dumfries & Galloway Vaccination Team is looking to appoint a full time Band 5 Nurse for a period of 23 months within the Public Health Directorate vaccination Team within the Annandale area. 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team modernising the delivery of local vaccinations and you will be part of the team delivering a cradle to grave service and will have a key role in supporting HCSW vaccination programme.

Please note the Job description is under review as part of organisational change process.

You will be a first level registered nurse with post registration experience.  You should be motivated and self driven with a commitment to developing and delivering a high standard of care. Previous Immunisation experience is desirable but not essential, however you should demonstrate knowledge of the child and adult vaccination programmes and the Green book.   You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills and have the ability to work on your own initiative and as a lone worker within a variety of settings within the community.  

You must be able to travel independently as applicants will be required to work across the region, this post may involve clinic and home visits in remote and rural areas therefore a current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged. tansport can be arranged.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
