Pharmaceutical Analyst (Ref: 187441)
Scottish Medicines Consortium
Band 8A: £56,992 - £61,522
Fixed term contract/Secondment until June 2025
Glasgow/Edinburgh: Hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) team within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS). The remit of SMC is to provide evidence-based advice to NHS Boards across Scotland about the status of all newly licensed medicines and new indications of established products.
As a pharmaceutical analyst within the clinical assessment team, you will lead the evaluation of clinical data submitted by pharmaceutical companies for new medicines. You will be responsible for the production of documentation and presentations summarising the key clinical evidence to support robust and transparent decision-making. The role requires effective communication and negotiation with health economists, health services researchers, senior clinicians, service providers and pharmaceutical industry representatives to interpret their opinions and viewpoints in situations where there may be conflicting opinions and evidence.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacist with highly developed critical evaluation and analytical skills to further develop these skills within SMC. You should have proven ability to work well in a multidisciplinary environment, excellent oral and written presentation skills and the ability to work effectively to strict deadlines. You must have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent with a higher level qualification, and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Please ensure you have the agreed support of your line manager before applying on a secondment basis.
