Position

An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Imaging Assistant at University Hospital Crosshouse.



What you will do:

The University Hospital Crosshouse is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated individual to join our friendly team.

You should have a general knowledge of the role of the department and experience within an x-ray setting would be advantageous.

You will support radiographers to carry out their duties and assist them with all aspects of patient care on our MRI van. Experience in a caring role is essential as you will be dealing with patients some of whom may be seriously ill. You will undertake a mentally and physically demanding job. You will assist in the patient monitoring process and, following training, will perform intravenous cannulation.

You will progress from Band 2 to Band 3 after completion of Imaging Assistant Competency Framework and Health Care Support Workers Mandatory Induction Standards.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

An SVQ level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is essential as is excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good computing skills are also necessary as administration tasks are an essential part of the role.

A flexible approach to work and the ability to respond to the ever changing demands on the service provided by the Medical Imaging Department is essential.

You must demonstrate a commitment to their own development.

They will be expected to support both the service and its staff in continuing to maintain and develop the highest standards of imaging. You will be involved in departmental audit activities. Our department actively promotes a positive culture of CPD.

Hours:

37 per week

Monday – Thursday 0830-1630 and Friday 0830-1600.



Fixed Term/Secondment:

Please note this job is a fixed term/secondment until 8th January 2025.


Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
