Message from the Chief Officer

On behalf of Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership I would like to thank you for your interest in the role of Chief Financial Officer for Midlothian Integration Joint Board.

Midlothian pride ourselves on being a county of opportunity, where our people are our greatest asset.

NHS Lothian works with Midlothian Council colleagues with a shared mission and vision to deliver and support innovation to deliver high quality Health and Social Care Services for their local authority residents.

Chief Financial Officer Role

This unique position provides direct support to the Joint Integration Boards for Midlothian.  You will have lead responsibility for the strategic financial management of the total allocated budget, c£158.4m, providing advice and support to ensure the delivery of the IJBs directions for service provision and performance reporting.

You will be an effective communicator, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.  A crucial component of this role is balancing the needs of the IJB with those of the Council and Health Board and their directors of finance.  As such, you will be meticulous in your approach, with strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate and enthuse colleagues, partners and stakeholders.

This vacancy comes at a very opportune moment.  With an ever-increasing ageing population, and a growing demand for health and social care services, we need to innovate our service delivery models to safeguard for the future.  As Chief Financial Officer you will play a pivotal role in the process.

We very much look forward to hearing about your strategic approaches, and how together, we can provide the best health, best care and best value for our communities.

Please note: As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
