The shift pattern for this position is 18.5 hours worked across Mon-Fri 07:30-17:30. (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Paediatric Orthotic Service for Glasgow based in the Royal Hospital for Children. The post forms an integral part of the team within the Paediatric Orthotic and Short Term Loan Wheelchair Service. The successful applicant will be required to provide skilled technical expertise and specialist knowledge in the manufacture of a comprehensive range of highly specialist Paediatric Orthotic Devices.

The technician will work in conjunction with the Paediatric Orthotist on varied and highly complex patients. The post requirements will include manufacture, fabrication and maintenance of Orthoses to meet with the required quality standards and appointed time scales of the service. Componentry knowledge, stock control, ordering, team working and innovation are all aspects of the post. The successful applicant will also be required to provide skilled technical expertise and specialist knowledge in the assessment, maintenance, adaption and supply of short term loan wheelchairs in Glasgow's Children’s Hospital.

The post holder will operate at Band 5 level and will require, as a minimum, an appropriate HNC or equivalent qualification or commensurate experience. Applicants to this post will require PVG certification for children and vulnerable groups. This is a permanent post with part time hours (18.5); the working pattern will align with the services normal working patterns of Monday to Friday from 0830-1630, or 0730-1730 compressed working.
